A man is required to pay property tax on a sheep that he supposedly owns “on paper” because the “shearing” of his woolen jacket was mistakenly recorded as sheep shearing. In order to clear up the misunderstanding, he visits the local authority and tries to prove the truth. Unfortunately, the gears of bureaucracy grind on, refusing to admit their error. How connected are we with our fellow human beings, and how much does routine “consume” us? Is justice truly blind, and (why) are we inert?
